My 16 month old puppy has terrible seperation anxiety when I have to
leave her alone, and has even hurt herself when I put her in the
crate. She is very well behaved, and has no anxiety issues when I'm
in the house. If I can't take her w/me or get a puppy sitter, and
have to be gone longer than 20 minutes, she has a meltdown! I found
this awesome article:

and am doing the excersizes. She is sooooo distressed however, if I
have to be gone for an hour or two, I'm going to ask my Vet for some
tranquilizers for when I have to leave and can't bring her or get a
sitter for that amount of time, so hopefully she wont hurt herself.
If anyone has any suggestions/tips, I'd be very grateful!! :-)
Thanx!!

I had a pomeranian with this problem and she's the reason I have my cat!
The only thing that worked was getting her a companion. I was not
interested in having two dogs in an apartment, so the cat worked really
well. They were the best of friends and it helped with her problems within
a couple weeks. She was 100% better not long after.
